National General Status Working Group Members
The National General Status Working Group (NGSWG) is composed of representatives (with designated alternates as needed) from each of the Canadian provinces and territories and the three federal agencies whose mandate includes wildlife (Canadian Wildlife Service, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Parks Canada). Members of the working group are responsible for completing the general status assessments in their respective jurisdictions. The NGSWG was established by the Canadian Wildlife Director Committee in order to meet the commitment of monitoring, assessing, and reporting on the status of wildlife, as required under the Accord for the Protection of Species at Risk. NGSWG members are responsible to the Canadian Wildlife Director Committee, and ultimately to the Canadian Endangered Species Conservation Council.
